Volunteer with PhotoIreland

We are currently looking for volunteers to fulfill the following roles:

An Arts Administrator
A Fundraiser
Festival Volunteers

ART ADMINISTRATOR

PhotoIreland is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and enthusiastic Art Administrators to join the team as a volunteer, and work from our offices in Dublin and/or from home. The Art Admninistrator role includes:

planning and organising logistics and budgets related to events, buildings, artists and other personnel, including security, catering and sale of tickets;
using skills in arts-related law, accountancy, press liaison and public relations;
writing, or contributing to, publications which accompany arts-related events and activities;
administrative, marketing and office management duties.
ensuring corporate and legal requirements are complied with and reporting to management.
actively participating and contributing to the developpment of the Festival programme for the coming years.
Commitment and a friendly and positive attitude are a must.

FUNDRAISER

PhotoIreland is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and imaginative Fundraisers to join the team as a volunteer, and work from our offices in Dublin and/or from home. The Fundraiser role includes:

developing and implementing a strategy for individual and corporate supporter recruitment and development;
developing and coordinating new fundraising activities, web-based fundraising, online auctions and merchandise sales;
be capable of raising awareness of the Festival and its work,
increasing funds through researching and targeting trusts whose criteria match our projects and activities;
building and maintaining profitable, long-term fundraising relationships with current donors and potential donors;
preparing reports, monitoring income and expenditure against budgets and the targets;
Commitment and a friendly and positive attitude are a must.

FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

We are happy that we already receive numerous emails from people expressing their interest in the Festival, and looking forward to help us in any way or form. PhotoIreland welcomes volunteers seeking to help for the duration of the Festival, fulfilling a number of roles.

44 International Photography Festivals

We have been mentioned in the European Photography Magazine web site as “a new festival not yet listed in our recent survey”. Though it adds to the pressure and responsibility of organising a great International event, critically curated, it is nevertheless a great moral push.

Did you know that there are more than 44 International Photography Festivals worldwide? Is there a reason why? Why is a Photographic Festival so important? Perhaps you can comment underneath and let us know what do you think.

The National Campaign for the Arts

The National Campaign for the Arts is a broad and inclusive coalition that reflects the scale, reach and diversity of the arts in Ireland today. Its membership has a national reach that includes major festivals, venues, producers and representative organisations in visual arts, theatre, film, dance, music, literature, architecture and collaborative arts.

The National Campaign for the Arts asserts the fundamental importance of the arts to economic recovery and calls for:

Retention of Culture Ireland, the agency for the promotion of Irish arts worldwide.
Retention of The Irish Film Board, development agency of the Irish film industry.
Maintenance of existing levels of funding to the Arts Council.
Retention of the artists’ income tax exemption scheme.
Commitment to retain the arts portfolio at cabinet as part of a senior ministerial portfolio.

Candy Collective join us towards PIF 2010

Aidan Kelly, from the lovely hard working people of Candy Collecive has joined the team. Candy Collective, formed in 2005 by Richard Seabrooke, has been over the years a great push for inspiration, and a great example of how things should be done. It was born “with the ambition of showcasing exceptional creativity, wherever it may be, through interesting formats and memorable projects”, like Candy Magazine, “launched to showcase Irish creativity alongside international equivalents to a worldwide audience”.

We look forward to let you know more about some of the great projects coming down the line. Stay tuned!
